What Is My IP Address?
This tool shows the public IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) your connection arrived from — the address external servers see. If your device has both, you see the one this connection used. It also shows your ISP, ASN (Autonomous System Number), approximate location, and what kind of network the address belongs to: ISP, cloud, hosting or a known VPN brand. Knowing your public IP is the first step in network reconnaissance and privacy assessment.
How It Works
When you open this page, your browser connects to our edge server, which reads your IP from the connection itself — no client-side detection. ASN, ISP and approximate location come from Cloudflare's connection metadata for that request. The network type is matched from the ASN and the network name, and the proxy hint comes from connection latency.

What is the difference between public and private IP?
A private IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x) is used within your local network. A public IP is assigned by your ISP and is visible to every server you connect to. This tool shows your public IP — the address websites and services actually see.
Why does my IP address change?
Most ISPs assign dynamic IPs that change periodically or when your router restarts. If you need a stable IP for hosting or security rules, request a static IP from your ISP or use a VPN with a fixed exit node.
Can this tool detect VPN or proxy usage?
Partly. We label the network as ISP, cloud, hosting or a known VPN brand from its ASN and name. The "proxy" label is a latency hint (round-trip time over 500 ms), not a detection — most VPNs running on residential or unknown networks will not be flagged.
