How It Works
The tool queries the IANA RDAP bootstrap to find the authoritative RDAP server for the TLD, then retrieves the domain registration data via the RDAP JSON API. Status flags, dates, and entity information are extracted and interpreted. Critical statuses like clientHold and pendingDelete trigger immediate warnings.

What is the difference between RDAP and WHOIS?
WHOIS is a legacy text-based protocol from the 1980s. RDAP is its modern replacement offering structured JSON responses, standardized query/response formats, internationalization support, and better access control. ICANN mandated RDAP support for all gTLD registries.
What does clientHold status mean?
ClientHold means the registrar has suspended the domain's DNS resolution. Even if your DNS records are correct, the domain will not resolve. Common causes: unpaid renewal fees, abuse reports, legal disputes, or verification failures. Contact your registrar to resolve.
Why is registrant information hidden?
GDPR and ICANN's Temporary Specification require registrars to redact personal data from public RDAP/WHOIS responses. Registrant name, email, and address are replaced with "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY". Legitimate access requires submitting a verified request to the registrar.
